Among them stand Alternate Day Fasting (ADF) which in recent time has gained a lot of popularity. Also, equating some of the research findings many are saying that ADF can be a considerable substitute of many other diets and fasting like intermittent fasting and caloric restriction diet. 



While those who go through ADF often compensate for their lost calories when they are said to eat, but the compensation is not for all of the lost calories.



Furthermore, ADF fasting gives a variety of health benefits like the reduced level of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 which is a marker linked to inflammation and various age-related disease.



And it is not confined to that, ADF can lower your levels of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine and many research shows that it can reduce the level of this hormone for the long term.



In addition to that, this form of fasting helps in lowering the levels of cholesterol and trunk, also known as the belly fat. And it also put a restriction in amino acids which might longer the lifespan of the person.     



While there are many researched benefits of ADF, but doctors and medical professionals do not recommend it as something everybody should practice. 



It may be a good regime for a couple of months for obese people to cut down some weights or can be proven as a useful clinical intervention in diseases driven by inflammation. However, to apply it to the daily practice still demands further research. 



Doctors also warn people who are experiencing viral infection to refrain themselves from fasting. And always consult a physician before undertaking any new form a new diet, particularly one that is as strick as Alternate Day Fasting.
